Heat Exchanger & Gear Cooler Service — Main Engine & Transmission

The main engine coolant was drained, and the heat exchanger core and gear cooler were removed, descaled, sandblasted and cleaned at the shop. They were reinstalled with new O-rings and fresh coolant, and the CCV filter was replaced. A sea trial showed no leaks and the engine held proper temperature.

Work Performed: 6/03: Load truck, At Marina, load up in launch boat. On boat, drain main engine coolant, disassemble heat exchanger and remove core, remove gear cooler as well, inspect engine and compartment. Brought parts back to shop, serviced heat exchanger and gear cooler. 6/04: At boat, Install heat exchanger core with new O-rings and greased surfaces. Re-install gear cooler, fill engine with new coolant. Sea trial was successful- no leaks and engine held proper temp. Replace CCV filter. Clean up.
